The Harvest is a weekly adult meeting after liturgy with theological, spiritual, and social topics explained in a simple Orthodox way. It meets at the same time as Youth Academy classes, giving adults a place to learn while children are in formation.

Orthodoxy Explained Simply

The Harvest is designed to make Orthodox teaching understandable and practical. Topics are rooted in Scripture, the liturgy, the Fathers, Church history, and the lived experience of the parish, but they are presented in a way that is accessible to people who are still learning the faith.

This makes the meeting especially helpful for newcomers, catechumens, converts, parents, servants, and adults who want to keep growing in the Orthodox mind of the Church.

When It Meets

The Harvest meets weekly after liturgy, at the same time as Youth Academy classes. Families can bring their children to Youth Academy while adults attend The Harvest for teaching, discussion, and spiritual formation.

What We Study

Topics vary throughout the year and include theology, spiritual life, Scripture, liturgical rites, Church history, social questions, and practical Christian living. Past and current material includes evangelism, the creation and fall, Jonah the Prophet, Ecclesiastes, salvation in the Orthodox understanding, Coptic Church history, the Holy Scriptures, the priesthood, the history of the liturgy, the Ten Commandments, comparative theology, comparative religions, ancient Church writings, the life of faith, dealing with difficult people, the fear of death, contentment, and bringing every thought captive.

Who This Is For

  • Newcomers who want a clear introduction to Orthodox Christianity.
  • Catechumens and converts preparing to enter more deeply into the life of the Church.
  • Adults who want continued theological and spiritual formation.
  • Parents attending while children are in Youth Academy.
  • Servants who want to explain the faith more simply and faithfully.

What to Expect

Each meeting usually centers on a focused topic with teaching, examples, and practical application. The tone is approachable and pastoral, with room to connect Orthodox doctrine to prayer, repentance, family life, service, and daily decisions.

The goal is not only to learn information, but to become disciples who can understand the Church, live the faith, and share it with others.
