Lunch Service

Lunch Service is a practical ministry of hospitality where volunteers donate, prepare, serve, and clean up meals for the parish.

Lunch Service is a ministry of hospitality where volunteers donate, prepare, serve, and clean up meals for the parish. It supports the shared table that often follows liturgy, classes, meetings, and seasonal gatherings.

A Ministry of Hospitality

Food is one of the simplest ways the church welcomes people. Lunch Service helps create a peaceful, organized meal where families can spend time together after worship and visitors can experience the warmth of the parish community.

The service is practical, but it is also spiritual. Preparing food, serving with patience, and cleaning the kitchen afterward are small acts of love offered for the Body of Christ.

How Volunteers Serve

  • Help prepare or warm food before the meal.
  • Set up the kitchen, serving line, tables, drinks, plates, napkins, and utensils.
  • Serve food with order, kindness, and attention to families and guests.
  • Assist with cleanup, dishes, trash, counters, floors, and putting supplies away.
  • Coordinate with servants so meals are ready at the right time and served safely.

Food Donations

Parish families may serve by donating prepared dishes, ingredients, drinks, desserts, paper goods, or other supplies needed for a meal. Some volunteers are able to cook; others help by bringing items, setting up, serving, or cleaning.

When donating food, please coordinate with the kitchen servants so the meal can be planned well and served in a way that respects food safety, allergies, fasting seasons, and the needs of the parish.

Kitchen and Serving Team

The kitchen team keeps the meal moving smoothly. Volunteers help receive donations, organize trays, keep the serving area clean, monitor supplies, and make sure the kitchen is restored after the meal.

This is a good service for families, adults, youth, and servants who want to help in a concrete way. Younger volunteers should serve with adult guidance and follow the direction of the kitchen lead.

Who Can Help

Anyone who is willing to serve humbly and follow the kitchen team’s instructions can participate. Volunteers are especially helpful before the meal begins, during the serving line, and after the meal when cleanup is needed.

Getting Involved

To volunteer for Lunch Service or donate food, contact the church or speak with the servants coordinating the meal that week. The need may change depending on the church schedule, fasting seasons, classes, and parish events.
